Job Description

Our client, an insurance company is looking for a P&C Pricing Actuary to strengthen the Pricing Department. He·she will be in charge of the relevant pricing models and providing support to the respective underwriting teams within the European subdivisions, especially The Netherlands, Belgium and France.


The P&C Pricing Actuary will be responsible for:

  • Developing a strong working relationship with the senior management team, underwriters and underwriting management;
  • Supporting the development and deployment of pricing models and ensuring that models comply with the technical pricing framework and pricing policy;
  • Analysing external and internal data to build and validate technical pricing models;
  • Supporting, coaching and advising underwriters in actuarial & technical issues, including case pricing, expense allocation, renewal monitoring, expected loss cost calculations and business planning, challenging where appropriate;
  • Supporting the business and underwriters on other actuarial related matters such as reserving and internal model parameterisation which are performed by other actuarial teams;
  • Working with management to monitor the performance of the business, for example in the class performance reviews giving an independent opinion on the quality of the risks written and by improving business performance through portfolio analysis;
  • Maintaining and developing management information available for analysis and reporting;
  • Liaising with other functions within the company when required;
  • Coaching and managing more junior members in the team when required.



  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or in any other quantitative and analytical training;
  • At least 5 years of experience in P&C;
  • Experience with statistical and predictive advanced modelling;
  • Experience with Machine Learning;
  • Experience in European underwriting classes and environment;
  • Good knowledge of Excel/VBA and Python or R is an asset;
  • Experience in SQL and knowledge of SAS are a plus;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Attention to detail and ability to self-check work, analytical mindset;
  • Proactive, flexible and adaptable;
  • Capacity to defend own views and position;
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of French or Dutch is an asset.
