Job Description

Our client, a reinsurance company is looking for an Analytics Manager to strengthen the Technical & Analytics department. He·she will be in charge of  managing the Analytics team and supporting the strategic decisions of the reinsurer.

The Analytics Manager will be responsible for  :

  • Manage a team ensuring the overall output and quality of service provided by the team is within specified levels
  • Develop and coach the team so as to ensure the required standards of performance, and support the continuing personal and professional development of all team members increasing their capability and share knowledge and best practice
  • Coach the team in charge of developing and implementing models that fit the reinsurance risks and pricing tools
  • Guide the team on developing R&D projects that are applicable and industrializable
  • Bring support to the Underwriting teams (e.g. reinsurance treaties, etc.)
  • Develop appropriate procedures to ensure accurate data is used and appropriate analyses produced. It includes adopting efficient and consistent actuarial models and processes and/or technologies where appropriate
  • Ensure that processes are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose through liaison with the Functional teams
  • Manage and monitor Actuarial process, where applicable, to ensure their continued delivery and improvement to meet
  • Maintain and comply with documentation of key processes and policies to ensure the company complies with all legal material and regulatory requirements
  • Satisfy all of the requirements from the functional teams in order that appropriate actuarial services are offered to all internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with the Head of Technical & Analytics to issue a strategic plan for the growth of the company
  • Take part in the Pricing Committee (discussion, presentation)
  • Interact with peers internally and externally to ensure good business relationships are developed and maintained.

 

Profile

  • Qualified or equivalent level – Institute of Actuaries or equivalent body
  • Management experience
  • Significant relevant General Insurance work experience
  • Good understanding of industry best practice in actuarial analysis, modelling and underwriting
  • Good understanding of compliance issues and insurance business processes
  • Expert user in Excel and other analytical tools (Python, R,…)
  • Ability to conceptualize and lead others in their use for solving specific problems
  • Excellent in the use and interpretation of numerical data
  • Effective communication with a wide range of audience (technical and non-technical)
  • Ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
  • Ability to manage effectively: providing a framework and guidelines and making sure the team members develop ideas/tools
  • Team spirit and a collaborative mindset for interactions with other departments and entities
  • Strategic mindset
  • Ability to organize own work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with defined procedures
  • Ability to work in an international environment : fluent in English, in French and/or Dutch with a least a good understanding of the other national language
