Job Description

Our client, an insurance company is looking for a Senior Life Risk Actuary to strengthen the Financial & Insurance Risk Management team. He·she will be in charge of challenging the pricing, the modelling of liability cashflows and customer behaviour as well as other assumptions.

The Senior Life Risk Actuary will be responsible for:

• Supporting and challenging the analysis of the profitability and risk of the insurance portfolio throughout any product development and management cycle, including reviewing and testing pricing tools, cash-flow modelling tools, and challenging best-estimate assumptions used.
• Acting as the second line of defense and proactively collaborating with the first line of defense on various insurance product matters such as launching new products and reviewing existing products.
• Providing clear and impactful insights into the results obtained from pricing, models, and assumptions reviews, including accurately documenting insurance product reviews.
• Proactively collaborating with the Actuarial Function Holder, who also serves as the second line of defense.
• Actively participating in technical committees concerning the launch and review of insurance products.

Profile

• Master’s degree in a quantitative subject (e.g. actuarial, mathematics, physics, engineering sciences, economics).
• Minimum five years of relevant work experience in risk management.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of the various types of life insurance products, actuarial modelling software and the Belgian life insurance market.
• Knowledge of R³S (AFM) is considered a bonus.
• Knowledge of Solvency II and IFRS17 is an asset.
• Data analysis capabilities are a plus (Python / R).
• Analytical, always eager to learn and able to work in an accurate and precise way as well as in an autonomous way.
• The candidate is not afraid of asking questions.
• Excellent command of English, and knowledge of Dutch and/or French.
