Job Description
Our client, an insurance company is looking for a Head of Actuarial Function to support the Risk Management Department. He/she will be in charge of the identification the potential risks that could impact thecompany and to develop strategies to control and monitor those risks, to provide the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors with a degree of quality insurance for the actuarial calculations and underlying assumptions, as per existing regulation.
The Head of Actuarial Function will be responsible for :
- Holding the Actuarial Function as per the Solvency II and NBB.
- Providing Actuarial Function opinions quarterly on Technical Provisions and present these opinions to the dedicated Committees.
- Providing clear opinions and recommendations on area of responsibilities of the Actuarial Function (technical provisions, BEGAAP, data quality, underwriting, profit sharing dotation, profitability, reinsurance) and present the Actuarial function report to the Board of Directors.
- Signing-off/performing second line validation on key items related to the Solvency Best Estimate or BEGAAP: calibration, assumptions, expert judgement, data quality, calculations, model changes.
- Coordinating work on model risk on behalf of the Chief Risk Officer.
- Coordinating Actuarial Function activities with Group Actuarial Function Holder.
- Supporting and interacting with the Risk Management Function e.g. for the ORSA process.
- Preparing governance bodies material (Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Risk Management Committee, Audit & Risk Committee,).
- Managing one direct report and ensuring people development through regular 121 and coaching.
Profile
- You have a university degree in actuarial science.
- You have at least 5 years' experience in life actuarial within an insurance company.
- You have strong understanding of Asset-Liabilities Management.
- You are a native French or Dutch speaker with good command of the other national language and can work in English.
- You are quantitative in approach with a high practical intelligence.
- You are highly organised and can work to tight deadlines and conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You are assertive, have strong influencing skills and can build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- You have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, and you are able to produce high quality written presentation materials.
- You are a strong team player, who collaborates easily and effectively across functions and with stakeholders to achieve results.
