Job Description

Our client is looking for an Actuary - Prudential Control to strengthen the monitoring department. He·she will be in charge of bringing together the legal, financial, actuarial and IT points of attention into a comprehensive risk assessment of the audited companies.

 

The Actuary - Prudential Control will be responsible for:

  • Assessing Life and Non-life insurance risks (incl. reserving methods and the level of technical provisions, profit-sharing, technical profitability and the technical basis for pricing) and calculating risks related to capital requirements;
  • Challenging the Solvency condition and the actuarial analyses of audited companies on an individual basis, using own criteria and monitoring tools;
  • Carrying out cross-over analyses of market data which may lead to in-depth reviews on an individual basis;
  • Assisting in particular cases (mergers, acquisitions, portfolio transfers, etc.) when actuarial expertise is required;
  • Analysing the robustness of the companies’ business model and the related risks, taking into account the economic and competitive context in which they operate and the challenges facing in the insurance sector;
  • Contributing to the development of insurance sector regulation and supervisory policy by sharing the results of above studies through appropriate discussion forums.

 

Profile

  • Holds a master’s degree in Actuarial Science or similar;
  • Previous experience in the field of Solvency II, particularly in calculating and/or controlling the valuation of assets and liabilities and the Solvency capital;
  • Good knowledge of requirements related to the annual accounts of insurance companies and/or of the Royal Decree on Life insurance;
  • Interest in the fields of cyber risk, InsurTech, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence;
  • Good analytical, oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multidisciplinary and international environment;
  • Capacity to develop an appropriate argument and be persuasive;
  • High sense of ethics and confidentiality;
  • Very good knowledge of French and Dutch (min. B1 level) and English (min. B1 level).
